SORSOGON CITY, 30June2019 (BicolToday.com) — On her first public statement after taking her oath of office as Sorsogon City Mayor, Ma. Ester Hamor will look deeper on the renewal of appointments of city hall job order employees reasoning that the number far exceeds the duties and responsibilities to be attended.
In an interview with BicolToday.com, she said that there are more than two thousand employed as job order since January to June this year. Trimming down the numbers will free the resources of the city to other programs which should have been addressed, she reasoned.
When asked what would be the criteria in trimming job order employees she emphasized that political affiliation is not the basis but only those who have consistently and creditably performed their responsibilities after the evaluation will be renewed. Affected are those assigned with the city environment office, the market and
slaughterhouse, street cleaners, traffic aides, bantay dagat, civil security unit and least are those of the health services.
She said that she will not overstaff her office, only the most essentials of the functions will be staffed a far cry from the overstaffing of the previous number assigned to the city mayors office. My staff will be at its minimum for overstaffing creates a lot of confusion and overlapping of functions resulting in dysfunctional service.
Joining the inaugural session of the 7th Sorsogon City Council, the chief executive called upon the members of the council to be responsive to the needs of their constituents, saying we owe it to them. She said that its time to walk the talk during the campaign. Her ten points programs includes education, health, livelihood, tourism, education, peoples welfare and others asking the council to support by means of appropriate legislation.
She also called upon city hall employees for their full cooperation and demand loyalty not to herself but to the people of Sorsogon ending that there is no better glory than delivering the basic services for the people of Sorsogon City which it fully deserves. [BicolToday.com]
