QUEZON CITY – Aside from the killing of 3 activists in the Bicol Region, another activist was killed in Bukidnon, a fourth victim within a span of 3 days.

This was reported by Kabataang Partylist when it disclosed that Nonoy Palma, peasant leader in Bukidnon, a member of KASAMA-Bukidnon from Barangay Halapitan, Sitio Malambago San Fernando, Bukidnon was shot dead outside his residence around 8:00 am on June 16, 2019.

KABATAAN Partylist, together with other progressive groups, joined the indignation rally at DND-Camp Aguinaldo EDSA, June 17, 2019, 10am-11am protesting the killings of Karapatan Sorsogon human rights workers Ryan Hubilla and Nelly Bagasala and Bukidnon peasant leader Nonoy Palma.

While an indignation rally was being held Monday, former Bayan leader Neptali Morada of Naga City, was shot dead.

“The Duterte Administration has become restless when it comes to silencing dissent. It has further advanced a culture of impunity wherein human rights defenders and peasant activists are viewed as enemies of the state, which leads them to face the bitter end of threats and killings” said Kabataan Partylist Representative Sarah Elago on the recent killings.

Ryan Hubilla, a senior high school student, and Nelly Bagasala were shot multiple times resulting to their immediate deaths at 8:20AM on June 15, 2019.

“The Duterte regime keeps on intensifying its fascist attacks against human rights workers, youth and peasants. The killers are murdering people in broad daylight, and they have nothing to fear because the President himself backs them up. The culture of impunity in our country is at its worst,” Elago said

“As the Pag-Asa ng Bayan, we rage against a system that kills the youth and the people. These attacks to our lives and civil liberties must stop; we must mobilize to hold the Duterte administration for all its crimes against the people. Now is the time to further protest the crimes against humanity this administration has committed” said Elago. [BicolToday.com]
