LIBMANAN, Camarines Sur – A passenger-loaded jeepney colliding head-on toward a dump-truck on Saturday afternoon, April 6, resulted to 5 dead, and 16 more injured along Maharlika Highway, Barangay Bikal, Libmanan, this province.
The ill-fated jeepney was going home to Lupi, Camarines Sur, after an excursion when the accident happened.
Five persons immediately died due to the impact by the collision. These are Jorge Montañez, driver; Marites Montañez, 53; and minors Jhian Co, Sneizer Co and Abegail Jimeno.
Sixteen (16) other passengers were injured, many sustaining serious injuries. Others were thrown out of the jeep due to the impact.
The injured passengers are Diana Binaday, 46; Joss Binaday, 9; Kim Marian Montañez, 7; Reden Montañez; Marites Montañez; Joy Cristy Bertulano; Edna Gemino; Mark Neil Montañez, 8; AJ Medrano, 10; Kris Bertolano; Renz Andrei Jimeno, 11; Charlize Jimeno, 9; Jhenize Co, 8; Terisa Jemino; Christine Co and Mardin Montañez.
Dump truck driver Noel Amot, 35, surrendered to police, facing cases of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, serious physical injuries and damage to properties.
