MASBATE CITY – – – “We feel proud for the people behind the hosting of Palarong Bicol this year in this beautiful province of Masbate because we discovered that they were able to raise the bar of sports excellence. I feel obliged to increase the amount to P20 thousand as incentives to those who will get gold in Palarong Pambansa in Davao City”, said Bicol Dir. Gilbert T. Sadasad of the Department of Education (DepEd).

This inspiring message of Bicol DepEd helmsman has roused the crowd attending the closing ceremonies of Palarong Bicol which started Feb 23 up to March 2, 2019 and was held at the refurbished Sport Complex in the capital city of Masbate. “Never settle for silver” Sadsad added.

Before lowering the 13 flags of the delegations, awards and recognitions were hand over by Sadsad to sports officials, athletes, government and non-government entities participating and shared time and efforts which made the regional sports competition meaningful.

Camarines Sur was declared champion and leading in gold medal chase, while Naga City as frist runner up and Albay, second runner up. Masbate Province has inched up as dark horse and over powered Camarines Norte followed by Ligao City and Legazpi City next behind. []
