SORSOGON CITY — The Human Rights group Karapatan Sorsogon demands justice for the Anakpawis member and supporter brutally killed in two separate incidents in the province.
Based on the Fact Finding of the rights group on January 15, Anakpawis member Nicasio Ebio, 37, was killed on January 11 and supporter Hermenegildo Domdom was shot dead the next day, January 12, by riding-in-tandem gunmen allegedly elements of AFP-PNP.
“Duterte administration’s mercenaries continuously killing the poor, supporters and members of progressive groups fighting for genuine change,” said Guillermo Abraham, Karapatan – Sorsogon spokesperson.
Ebio was shot dead by four motorcycle-riding unidentified gunmen while standing and pleading not to kill him near the village hall in Bgy. Bato, Bacon and left him with 10 gunshot wounds.
“He raised his two hands and said “Do not shoot me, I have many children”. But they continued to shoot him until my son fell. Those [residents] who were beside him ran off and left my son. Because maybe they avoided my son so they would not be killed too,” Orbeta Ebio, mother of Nicasio, told Baretang Bikolnon Online.
While Anakpawis supporter and construction worker Hermenegildo Domdom was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding unidentified gunmen while heading home for lunch in the road between the boundaries of Bgy. San Ramon and Bgy. Lupe in Prieto Diaz. Hermenegildo has 14 gunshot wounds.
According to Celso, Hermenegildo’s brother, he was with two workmates riding in a motorcycle when two motorcycles blocked their way. “Two people suspected that they had 45 caliber waved and commanded them to stop and lay on the ground. Then they started to shoot my brother while the others escaped,” he told Baretang Bikolnon Online.
“His forehead was ruined. His brains were all over the road,” Celso added.
Hermenegildo’s wife, Riza Domasig, is a member of Anakpawis. According to Riza, she and Nicasio attended the Provincial Anakpawis Assembly for the orientation and preparation for the upcoming 2019 Election campaigns last December 8, 2018.
According to Abraham, Duterte regime continuously disregarding the rights of the people and maneuvering to discredit their right to suffrage.
As of January 2019, Karapatan – Sorsogon already documented 26 Extrajudicial Killings (EJKs) under the Duterte regime. [BicolToday.com]
