CITY OF NAGA, Bicol Region, Philippines – A UK-based medical non-government organization (NGO) is worrying that its scheduled visit at Bicol Medical Center (BMC) in Naga City, Camarines Sur Province this coming November 5-6, might be compromised owing to failure by the regional office of the Department of Health to send a confirmation to the NGO’s email message.
Global Health Partnership UK said its medical project at BMC has been planned, pushed and organized in the last two years, but it has not received any confirmation from the DOH regional office in Legazpi City, Albay.
“I have sent them (DOH- Bicol regional office) an email but we have not received a confirmation,” said Dr. Jhalique Jane Fojas, a medical doctor, Ph.D. holder, and scientist, based in England.
Dr. Fojas notified BicolToday.com by email Wednesday (October 31), making known her worry about the failure by DOH-Bicol to communicate and send back any confirmation, while her group is England is ready for the scheduled medical mission at BMC in Naga City on November 5-6 (this year).
She said the Global Health Partnership UK targets the poorest regions in the world, and that “this is a medical project (at BMC) that I have been pushing in the last two years.”
Dr. Fojas, a Bicolana, native of Albay, is a medical scientist specializing in Neurophysics, based in England, with studies at Harvard Medical School, 20 Shattuck Street, Boston, MA USA; and the University of Cambridge, Queens’ College, Silver St., Cambridge, UK.
