LEGAZPI CITY, Albay Province – Governor Al Francis Bichara suspended in Albay Province classes in all levels (both public and private) for Monday, December 4 in anticipation of two (2) days mass transport strike on December 4-5, 2017.
In his advisory as chairman of Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Council (PRRMC), Bichara said he is suspending classes for Monday in order to maintain peace and order and public safety.
Bichara, in his order, said that Local School Authorities shall determine the suspension of classes in the island and remote/far-flung barangays/areas.
The order stated that there shall be no suspension of work in both government and non-government offices.
Bichara also encouraged the early marketing and buying of foodstuffs, medicines, and other errands.
He advised the public to avoid unnecessary movements until the public transport system in the province resumes.
The ambulance services of all LGUs/MHOs must be on standby, and ready to assist emergency cases within their respective areas, and the C/MDRRMCs are advised to implement this advisory in their areas of jurisdiction, Bichara said.
Meanwhile, transport groups, PISTON, and No To Jeepney Phaseout Coalition have declared the nationwide transport strike on December 4-5, 2017.
