Shabu found in sanitary napkin of visitor inside Sorsogon jail

SORSOGON CITY – Too hot to carry, her private part may be a good hiding place for shabu, but the woman did not fool the jail guards who are smart and nosy enough.

Police on Saturday, May 27, seized a woman visiting the Sorsogon Provincial Jail after she was found smuggling in illegal drug, shabu, hidden in her sanitary napkin she was wearing.

The suspect was identified as Jolina Cortes, 30 years old, GRO and a resident of Brgy. Rawis, Legaspi City.

Police investigation reported that around 9:12 AM Saturday, suspect Cortez was about to visit one of the inmates identified as Edison Villanueva, a drug detainee.

As part of jail rules and regulations, female PPSC personnel conducted mandatory search and discovered
three (3) plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be “Shabu” placed in sanitary napkin worn by the suspect which were wrapped on a small brown envelope.

PPSC personnel informed Sorsogon CPS who immediately responded together with PIB-Sorsogon. The arrested suspect was brought to Sorsogon CPS for proper disposition while the confiscated drug items were subjected to qualitative and quantitative laboratory examination. []
