I visited an old town Tigaon, Camarines Sur, Philippines.
Rebecca Sabella-Natividad, a plain housewife, sings before me an Italian Aria opera song “O Mio Babbino Caro,” without a microphone and no background music.
Rebecca sings the aria in soprano, a big surprise for me an ordinary, rural Filipina housewife can sing an Italian aria which has been the domain by the likes of Pavarotti, Maria Callas, and Monserrat.
Rebecca sings the opera Aria while sitting on a bench, a difficult position while singing high notes, but it is easy for her.
The video was taken only once without any rehearsal.
Rebecca is the wife of journalist Joey Natividad, senior editor of online news BICOLTODAY.COM who live at the place.
