SORSOGON CITY, Sorsogon – Thirty-one (31) drug dependents surrendered to provincial police here as law enforcement authorities are sweeping up the province under its recently-launched anti-illegal drugs campaign “Double Barrel”.
According to Sorsogon provincial police office, 31 suspected drug users or dependents, comprising eight (8) Barangay Officials, two(2) fisherman, one(1) businessman ,three (3) tricycle driver and seventeen (17) laborers and jobless, voluntarily surrendered.
PSSupt Ronaldo R. Cabral, Acting Provincial Director, said they conducted interviews and documentation of the surrendered drug personalities and coordinated with LGUs for rehabilitation activities and livelihood programs that could help for their rehabilitation.
The names of drug dependents who surrendered are withheld by police to protect confidentiality.
He said the PNP is endeavored in continuing PNP ANTI-ILLEGAL DRUGS CAMPAIGN (PROJECT “DOUBLE BARREL”) in support to the Barangay Drug Clearing Strategy of the government neutralization of illegal drug personalities nationwide.
Drug personalities, released from custody, promised that they will help the PNP for its Campaign on anti- illegal drugs and are advised to report to police station for accounting purposes.
