SORSOGON CITY, 11May2016 (BicolToday.com) — Without glitches, the Provincial Bard of Canvassers here proclaimed the May 9 2016 elections winning candidates less than twenty four hours after the close of the voting.
The proclaimed winning candidates were escorted by their supporters and family members, and are ecstatic to assume their elected position by noon of June 30 after their oath of office. But no one among them revealed if they will take their oath of office to a barangay chairman now qualified to render their oath of office by virtue of RA 10755.
Nanay Evie Escudero (NPC) secured 116,069 votes running unopposed in the first congressional district, while Deogracias ‘Ding’ Ramos (LP) will take his final congress term, garnering 111,608 votes in a one- on- one contest.
Robert ’Bobet’ Lee Rodrigueza was proclaimed as the elected governor with 135,191 votes, besting seven other contenders for the gubernatorial post, while Ester Hamor got 206,606 votes in a three -cornered fight for the vice-gubernatorial position. Rodrigueza is the LP bet, while Hamor is an Independent candidate.
The Board also proclaimed the provincial board members. In the first district, topping the votes is Antonio ‘Krunimar’ Escudero Jr.(NPC) with 59,484; followed by Rebecca Aquino(LP), 56,452; Ryan Dioneda(PDP-Laban) 46,461 votes; next was Franco Eric Ravanilla(NPC), 43,988; and the last seat went to Pedro Ravanilla(UNA) with 43,900.
In the second district, the proclaimed winning candidates are Arze Glipo(LP) with 79,231 votes; LP candidate Joey Guban garnered 78,783 votes; while Marnellie Ballesteros also of LP has 75,771 votes; next was UNA Bong Hao with 54690. Hao was replaced by his son because of his death during the campaign period. The fifth seat went to UNA Maria Teresa Fragata with 48,841 votes.
The province has registered voters of 425,025, and 363,980 are the total number of voters who actually voted. The first district is composed of Sorsogon City, and the towns of Magallanes, Casiguran, Castilla, Pilar and Donsol with registered voters of 213,458. Those who actually voted numbered 180,374, equivalent to 84.50% voters turn-out.
The second district has registered voters of 211,567, composed of the towns of Gubat, Pto. Diaz, Barcelona, Bulusan, Juban, Irosin, Matnog, Sta. Magdalena and Bulan. 183,606 registered voters actually voted on May 9, 2016, a high of 86.78% voters participation.
The 363,980 voters, who actually voted, represent 85.63 % province voters turn-out of its 425.025 registered voters. [BicolToday.com]
