MANILA, 8May2016 (BicolToday.com) – Militant youth groups urge citizens to adopt their newly-developed Android app to combat election fraud.
The anti-election fraud application was developed by Kabataang Partylist for use in digital phones with easy to download instructions.
With this, Filipino millenials will go out on Monday with a powerful tool in their pockets to combat election fraud – the Android app.
Kabataan Partylist developed an app called “Kabataan Tayo ang Pag-asa” (KTAP) which has a “Bantay Boto” function that can be used to report cases of election fraud and glitches encountered during the conduct of the national elections this Monday.
Downloadable via the Google Playstore, KTAP aims to crowd-source reports of election glitches and facilitate easier reporting and documentation of cases. Users will be asked to fill out a report form, complete with photo documentation of the case they intend to report.
Reports will then be collated and submitted to the Commission on Elections.
“This is the youth’s way to safeguard our ballots and combat electoral fraud,” said Kabataan Partylist President Marjohara Tucay, head developer of the app.
“We enjoin the youth to download the app and use it to report issues on vote count SD cards, faulty electronic transmissions, questionable election returns, and other issues that may be encountered on Election Day and during the canvassing of votes,” Tucay said.
Kabataan Partylist reminded voters, however, that the use of smartphones inside polling precincts is strictly prohibited.
“Let us maximize the app to safeguard our ballot. Wherever you are on Monday, use the app to document issues and cases that we may encounter,” Tucay said.
The youth leader also urged voters to use social media to spread awareness and immediately report possible cases of electoral fraud. ###
