SORSOGON CITY, 18April2016 (BicolToday.com) – The order of suspension for Sta. Magdalena town mayor Alejandro Gamos was received by the office of Governor Raul Lee through registered mail before noon yesterday, prompting Vice-Mayor Jocelyn Gallanosa to call for sobriety among her supporters and that of the supporters of soon –to- be suspended Gamos.

The call was made by Gallanosa in an exclusive video interview with this on-line news, the full text is hereto printed for clarification because of threats that supporters of the suspended mayor will exert physical efforts to derail the serving of the order. Such is not new, for in 2015 when Gamos was dismissed from the service by the Ombudsman for grave misconduct and abuse of authority, his supporters barricaded the town hall and refused the ministerial duty of the interior and local government officials to serve the dismissal order. Gallanosa became the mayor of the town, though short- live, because the dismissal order was reversed.

Anticipating the scenario, Vice-mayor Gallanosa said… “ In case dumating na yung suspension ni Mayor Gamos, I appeal to the people of Sta. Magdalena na magakaroon tayo ng peaceful and acceptance, kasi we need to respect kung ano ang sinasabi ng batas… To the people of Sta. Magdalena, both sides supporters, I accept natin kung ano ang sinasabi ng batas na masususpend si Mayor Gamos. Let’s have smooth acceptance with this order, and rest assured na we will have good camaraderie, both sides, my supporters and Mayor Gamos. To the supporters of Mayor Gamos, huwag na dumating na kung ano-ano pa na hindi magandang result.”

The suspension order of the Sandiganbayan Second Division will be implemented by the Office of the Governor within fifteen days upon receipt of notice and the power to suspend municipal mayors by the Governor is, but one of the duties and responsibilities of the Governor as defined by R.A. 7160, the Local Government Code.
