LEGAZPI CITY,Albay (BicolToday.com) — Without fanfare, the workhorse behind the long preparations for Palarong Pambansa first ever to unfold here, is Bicol DepEd Director Ramon Fiel G Abcede as compared to Gov. Joey S. Salceda, when it comes to media coverage.
“This will emphasize the theme for this year’s national sports competition of the 18 regions will unfold the learnings of the past and present, now that the new system is being adopted”, Abcede simplified the theme: “Transforming Communities, Transcending Through K-12”.
In an exclusive interview by BicolToday.com, Abcede explained that through this moving spirit behind the competition, the famous saying that “it takes a community to raise a child” is holistically package sports for a growing child wherein programs of DepEd like Brigada Eskwela; Clean & Green: Values & Discipline shall have total effects to tourism and the entire community.
Through this gathering, according to Abcede, more than 7,000 officiating officials and 12,600 athletes, plus their parents and relatives, would be involved while the host province would come alive in terms of economic activity and tourism.
He said, with the support of the local government units, this will not only show case arts, but the potentials of the regions so far is best and ready to continue the new education program.
Abcede mentioned the first to adopt K-12 program with graduates for the year 2015 was Donsol Vocational High School in Sorsogon which is included in the 15 schools nationwide, while another batch will finish for March 2017.
“We are tracking the graduates where most of them are now gainfully employed or productive and that they are now empowered to face the further challenge whether to pursue to dream profession or in status quo”, Abcede added.
The K-12 program of DepEd has given focus on skills development and competency of students in the elementary and high school which came about under President Aquino administration with the intention to prepare the youth for global competition. [BicolToday.com]
