(UPDATED) LEGAZPI CITY, Albay, 12March2016 (BicolToday.com) – Albay Governor Joey Salceda is ready to bolt out from the Liberal Party, bringing with him several LPs under his wing, while leaving only Mayor Agnes Paciencia Dycoco of Libon as the lone Liberal Party.
However, Liza Dycoco, the daughter of Mayor Dycoco, informed Saturday morning this online news thru her Facebook account, her mother is not running, saying “better check your facts with Comelec.” (latest update Saturday)
Sources said Salceda has initiated secret talks with Presidential bet Grace Poe and her running mate Chiz Escudero, but the ‘deal’ is still being kept under wraps.
An informant Friday morning told online news BicolToday.com that the ‘talks’ are pending since Poe and Escudero had proceeded to northern Luzon in the campaign trail.
An insider in the People’s Organizations for Empowerment (POE), a parallel organization supporting Escudero, confirmed Friday morning that such ‘talk’ is pending until Grace and Chiz return to Manila within this week after their Isabela provincial campaign.
Reports said Salceda has sensed that LP’s standard bearer Mar Roxas will not make it in the Presidential race, and has been looking for justifiable reasons to bolt out from LP. (See related news: Governor Salceda, not Albay, to abandon Roxas; uses unfinished airport project as ‘excuse’ )
According to a source, reasons for Salceda’s decision and his LP bets to defect revolves around campaign funds.
LP has not released funds to its downline local bets.
According to another source, the campaign financiers, mostly contractors, are hesitating to dole out money upon knowing the LP local bets are on the losing side.
“Why spend money for losers?”, echoed the source.
Unconfirmed reports said Salceda felt bad over the shortage of funding for the coming Palarong Pambansa this first week of April in Albay.
Another is rumored as “an alleged row with Secretary Abaya and Roxas over the ‘take’ in the multi-billion peso international airport contract in Daraga, Albay, which is unfinished until now.
Libon mayor not running; prefers Roxas
(News updated Saturday) Meantime, Liza Dycoco on Saturday morning corrected this online news, BicolToday.com, that her mother Agnes Pacencia Dycoco of Libon, is not running this election.
Liza monitored the news about Salceda’s plan to bolt out from LP, and immediately corrected this online media group, thru her Facebook account, regarding the mistake about her mother reported as “running for the mayoralty post, and still preferred to stay with LP.”
The young Dycoco said: “My parents have been in politics long enough that this doesn’t surprise me anymore. I’m just really confused with the Poe/Escudero choice.”
“Personally, I would have gone with Duterte, because sentiments and big money seem to be flowing his way,” she said.
“For your info, I’m still voting for Roxas,” she said.
Liza said: “It’s going to be hard to sell Poe. And, if you are a true Bicolano, you will know that Escudero is not well-liked outside Sorsogon. So, his positioning as the Bicolano Vice-President is honestly quite laughable.” [BicolToday.com]
