CITY OF NAGA, Bicol Region, 8april2015 (BicolToday.com) – Ayala Corp. intends to become big ticket project player in Bicol’s railway modernization project and prepares to bid anytime for the 170.7 billion peso (US $3.8 billion) government railway contract.
Ayala’s AC Infrastructure Holdings Corp. has sought out and already in talks with foreign partners for the ambitious project. But, the firm refuses to reveal publicly its potential partners.
Other big industry players are already heating up to join the bid, which the government may hold within the year.
Camarines Sur and Albay are the two main focus of modern railway development links connecting to Manila under the government’s private-partnership program that was launched in 2010.
The North-South Railway Project-South Line is one of the biggest road and railway project the government is offering under a private-public partnership scheme aimed to attract private investment.
The project involves rehabilitating and adding railway lines to link Manila to the central province of Albay, Camarines Sur and areas in between.
The Bicol railway system is already dilapidated with narrow, defective railway tracks. [BicolToday.com]
