MANILA, 18Jan2015 (PNA) — Pope Francis comforted two former young street children in tears who shared their thoughts and experiences on the pain of being disadvantage children in his encounter ceremony with the youth sector in the University of Santo Tomas on Sunday morning.
As the two children read their testimonies on how it feels to belong to the “disadvantage sector” of society like living in poverty, pain in coping with the dangers in the streets and becoming prone to abuses and risk, Pope Francis was touched.
“Some (street-children) become victims of drugs and prostitution. Why God allows sufferings like these to happen,” Glyzelle Palomar said as she stopped and burst into tears.
Deeply touched, Pope Francis touched Glyselle’s forehead who seemed to find comfort when she felt the hug of the Holiness who seems to be saying in his comforting touch that God has mercy and compassion.
The Pontiff also hugged and comforted Jun Chura, the other street child.
Chura, earlier said that some young street children often became victims of abuses and crimes.
The two street children are being taken cared of by the Tulay Foundation, a foundation/child center that helps street children to cope and have better fighting chance for survival.(PNA)
