SORSOGON CITY, 6Nov2014 (BicolToday.com) — The pestering issue of allowing “colorum” tricycles plying the city streets will soon end after the consultation dialog between majority of the two hundred thirty operators who were issued fake franchise and city officials headed by Mayor Sally Lee.
The problem was inherited by Lee when the permits and licensing office dismissed chief Jose Pura Jr. issued franchises after the closure of issuance. Pura served as PLO chief during the term of Leovic Dioneda.
It will be recalled that Victorino Daria III former east district councilor exposed the bribery attempt of Pura to undermine his privilege speech that led to a full blown investigation of fake tricycle franchises. Daria chair the transport committee at that time. It was discovered that some of the permit to operate issued then were either signed by Dioneda and city administrator Ireneo Manaois.
City affairs consultant Jose Vicente Duran said that Mayor Lee is focusing for a character city and even playing fields for everyone is tops. Lee adhere to the general welfare of the public adding that legitimate operation of the fake franchise victims eases tensions for the riding public, operators claim from insurer in case of an accident and with the members of affiliate association of FASTOD.
FASTOD chairman Jose Alimoot is confident that fake franchise holders will abide with the condition of discipline when they receive their legitimate permit as for-hire units. “I believe that this is the best solution, transport is a free market though regulated, everyone should observe the law.”
In a separate statement, Councilor Florencio Jamisola Jr. chair of the transport committee said that if the council clears the issue, it will be only for the operators who were issued fake franchises. [BicolToday.com]
