ABC official in Sorsogon survives slay try

SORSOGON CITY, 14Oct2013 ( – First recorded case of violence in the barangay election period was reported in this province when an unidentified gunman on motorcycle attempted to assassinate a top village official of Donsol who is current president of Association of Barangay Chairmen (ABC).

Ronald Malilin survived a gunshot wound on his leg after fired upon by an unidentified assailant at Calongay village, Pilar town, Monday morning.

He was rushed to a nearest government hospital. Malilin, as ABC president, is ex-officio member of the town council of Donsol.

Reports say he is seeking re-election as barangay chair on October 28.

The post as ABC president is the most coveted position among winning barangay chairmen in every town.

Police are still investigating, and trying to establish the identity of the
suspect. []
