Stranded passengers due to ‘Santi’ climbs to 2,606


MANILA, 12Oct2013 (PNA) – The Philippine Coast Guard on Saturday said the number of stranded passengers due to typhoon “Santi” has breached the 2,500 mark.

As of 10 am, the PCG said the number of sidelined passengers increased from 2,457 to 2,606 as heavy rains continue to batter some parts of the country.

The number of affected vessels are now 21 from 19.

The PCG said its district offices said that the number of affected passengers in the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Manila are 273 and 14 vessels; CGS Batangas with 1,400 passengers; CGS Calapan 230; CGS Romblon 21; CGS Mamburao 65.

In the Bicol region, 30 were affected in Sorsogon, and 14 passengers were stranded in Camarines Sur.

In the Visayas, 563 passengers were stranded and seven boats were affected.

There were no stranded passengers reported in the Mindanao region.(PNA)
