Its agents seized from them more or less 61.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” with an estimated market value of P246,800.
PDEA Regional Director Archie A Grande said the agents also confiscated an unlicensed .38-caliber firearm and live ammunition from Calixto Ecal alias Nong and Maricor Mirandilla at their residence in Barangay Dita.
Grande identified Ecal as the No. 1 in the regional target list for the large scope of his drug operations and the huge bulk of illegal drugs involved in his transactions.Ecal’s live-in partner, Maricor, is also included in the region’s watch-listed personality for her involvement in the drug trade in the area, he added.
Grande said target listed personality was finally arrested after the PDEA Albay Provincial Office conducted a search and seizure operation after weeks of surveillance and case build-up.
Armed with a search warrant, the PDEA agents swooped down at the couple’s residence and arrested them.“This operation is considered as one of our high-value targets which we were tasked to concentrate on.
PDEA RO V continuously proves it’s worth in safeguarding the region against illegal drug pushers and the agency will not rest until there are pushers and drug personalities around,” Grande stressed.
He added that the suspects will be facing charges for violation of Section 11 (possession), Article II of RA 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.(PNA)
