CAMP GEN. SIMEON OLA, Legazpi City, 4Oct2013 (PNA) – At least 17 persons were seriously injured when a passenger bus bumped a parked trailer truck along the Andaya Highway in Barangay Binahan proper, Ragay, Camarines Sur, at 2:45 a.m., Friday.
A police report identified the 17 injured as Marife Regulado, Severo Regulado, Divina Hernandez, Edgardo Laroza, Salve Pano, Prescila Sina, Lorna Del Castillo, Wilson Epoo, Rex delos Santos, Desideria Celos, Loreta Paglinawan, Rowena Blanza, Arwin Balnza, Jr., Arwin Blanza, Sr., Leona Balingit, bus conductor Ronnel Cortez and bus driver Carlito Castro.
Several unidentified passengers were also injured, the report added.
The victims were immediately rushed to the Bicol Medical Center for treatment.
Reports said the Raymund bus with Plate No. EVU-342 was negotiating the highway from Metro Manila when it hit the parked trailer truck with Plate No. CUM–836.
The report added the trailer truck, which was driven by Garry Onion of Naga City and owned by Partido Marketing Corp., was occupying half of the highway when the speeding Raymund bus hit its rear.
The impact caused the passengers, most of them asleep, to be thrown off their seats.
Local authorities immediately responded to the accident and rushed the victims to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
In another development, a man died while his two brothers were seriously injured when their motorcycle hit a concrete fence at about 4:15 a.m., Friday, in Barangay San Isidro, Bombon, Camarines Sur.
A police report identified the dead victim as Marvin Obias, 20, single, who did not reach the hospital alive, and his seriously injured elder brothers as Robert, 21, single, and Joel, 24, single – all residents of Barangay Sibao, Bombon.
The report said Robert, who was driving the motorcycle from Calabanga town, lost control of the vehicle as it reached a curve, causing it to hit a concrete fence of a vacant lot.
The impact caused the brothers to be thrown off into the ground.
Police and other local authorities immediately responded and rushed them to the hospital. (PNA)
