CAMP GEN. SIMEON OLA, Legazpi City, 02Oct2013 (PNA)- A couple died while a village chief and his companion were seriously injured in separate accidents in Sorsogon and Catanduanes provinces Monday afternoon.
Jose Cantuba, 65, and his wife Felicisima, 72, of Bulan, Sorsogon, did not reach the Sorsogon Doctors Hospital alive after their motorcycle was bumped by a 10-wheeler truck at about 2:45 p.m. along the national highway in Barangay Bolos, Irosin, Sorsogon.
The driver of the truck immediately escape from the scene of the accident, leaving the victims lying helpless on the road.
Residents of the village and a passing vehicle rushed the victims to the hospital but the latter died on their way.
In the other accident, an incumbent village chief and his companion were seriously injured when their motorcycle was bumped by a dump truck along the highway in Barangay Paniquihan, Baras, Catanduanes, at about 4:10 p.m.
Rushed to the Bato Hospital were Barangay Captain Marcial Tenerefe, 52, married, and his companion Mardonio Tibatib, Jr., 34, both residents of Barangay Caragumihan, Baras, Catanduanes.
Police arrested dump truck driver Eduardo Infelez, 44, married and resident of Barangay San Vicente, Baao, Camarines Sur, while the ownership of the vehicle was traced to the Gym Construction Supply. (PNA)
