SORSOGON CITY, 26Sept2013 (BicolToday.com) – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region V legal officer Atty. Arnaldo Escober together with Sorsogon Provincial DILG officer escorted by PNP personnel on Monday failed to serve personally the Ombudsman dismissal order to Sta. Magdalena Mayor Alejandro Gamos and two others after they were barred from entering the municipal hall by Gamos loyalists and supporters who had set up barricades.

Even members of the media were also barred from entering the premises. This developed when Mayor Gamos’ followers had set up barricades upon learning that the Ombudsman dismissal order is imminent, and that the delivery of the dismissal order is “ministerial”. (see related articles)

Meanwhile, Mayor Gamos threatened to sue BicolToday.com in court for its reportorial coverage over the alleged grave misconduct of Gamos, his accountant and treasurer.

Gamos-reply

Gamos’ problems started when two complaints on alleged grave misconduct and doubtful cash advances were filed before the Ombudsman prompting the anti-graft body to conduct a probe. This caught the attention of BicolToday.com as a concern of public interest.

The development of events arising from the investigation resulted to the Ombudsman decision to dismiss him.  [BicolToday.com]
