2 sisters seriously injured when thrown off passenger jeep


CAMP GEN. SIMEON OLA, Legazpi City, 23Sept2013 (PNA) – Two sisters are now being treated at a hospital for serious injuries they sustained when thrown off the top of the overloaded passenger jeepney they were riding on at about 7 p.m., Saturday, along the Gov. J. T. Fuentebella Highway in Barangay La Purisima Nuevo, Ocampo, Camarines Sur.

A police report said Mary Ann Balayboa, 22, and her sister Mary Grace, 20, both single and residents of Barangay Salvacion, Ocampo , Camarines Sur, were on their way home from Naga City and seated on top of the passenger jeepney when they were suddenly thrown off and fell into the rugged road.

Fellow passengers immediately came to the rescue of the two sisters, who sustained wounds and fractured bones, and rushed them to the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City.

The report said the passenger jeepney was overloaded that some of the passengers, including the sisters, had to sit on top of the vehicle.

Police identified the driver as Jerry Filipino, 43, married and resident of Barangay Cabariwan, Ocampo.(PNA)


  1. What’s the LTO Region V doing about the violation on overloading? NOTHING. This is very prevalent on public utility vehicles in Bicol.
