PILI, Camarines Sur, 19Sept2013 (PNA) – To strengthen the enforcement of fisheries law in the municipal waters of the region, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Bicol will have 12 40-footer patrol boats to be provided by the BFAR national office.
Dennis Del Socorro, BFAR Bicol regional director, said the six provincial fisheries offices in the region will get one unit each while the other six units will be detailed at the regional office.
The purchase of patrol boats will be done by the BFAR national office, Del Socorro said.
He said Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala has already allotted the budget for the 12 patrol boats to help solve the problem of illegal fishing in the waters of Bicol.
Del Socorro said the patrol boats may be delivered late this year or early next year.
