LEGAZPI CITY, 19Sept2013 (PNA) – Albay province got the highest number of successful examinees in the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) entrance examination conducted here last August 25.
Out of the over 600 applicants from the six provinces of Bicol, 33 of them — including 12 women, successfully passed the examination conducted at the Naval Station Julhasan Arasain, the headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Naval Forces Southern Luzon (NAVFORSOL) in Barangay Rawis, the site of the regional government center for Bicol.
Of these passers, 11 are from this city, three each from Oas and Daraga, two each from Tabaco City and Guinobatan and one each from Ligao City, Polangui and Pioduran — all in Albay.
All the rest are from Sorsogon province — seven of them from Sorsogon City and one each from Matnog and Juban towns.
No examinee from the four other provinces of Bicol—Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes and Masbate — passed.
NAVFORSOL commander Commodore Manuel Abinuman on Wednesday here said the PMA entrance examination this year consisted of Algebra and Geometry, Grammar and Composition, Reading and Comprehension, Verbal and Numerical Reasoning and Pattern Analysis, and was held simultaneously in 37 venues across the country.
Examinees who successfully hurdle the test shall undergo the Complete Physical and Medical Examination at the AFP Medical Center to determine their medical conditions as well as their psychological fitness, according to Abinuman.
Those who will pass these tests will be accepted as new cadets to undergo military schooling at the PMA in Baguio City for four years, he said.
After graduation, they will be fielded as officers with the AFP branch of service of their choice such as the Philippine Army, Philippine Navy and Philippine Air Force, Abinuman added. (PNA)
