CAMP GEN. SIMEON OLA, Legazpi City, 18Sept2013 (PNA) – Police arrested an incumbent village chief, who is facing a sentence of 17 years in prison, at his residence in Barangay Central, Magallanes, Sorsogon, at 12 noon Monday.
A police report identified the official arrested as Eduardo G. Velasco, 70, married and barangay captain of Tula-Tula Sur, Magallanes, Sorsogon.
Police arrested Velasco based on the decision of Judge Evangeline C. Castillo Morigomen of Regional Trial Court Branch 101 in Quezon City on July 30, 2013 finding him guilty of double homicide in the case docketed as C.C. No. Q-03-121015 at Q-03-121016.
Based on the decision of the judge, the suspect has to serve the sentence of 17 years in prison.
Magallanes town police are now readying the travel of Velasco to Metro Manila to turn him over to the court. (PNA)
