Girl drowns in CamSur beach


CAMP GEN. SIMEON OLA, Legazpi City, 18Sept2013 (PNA) – A 17-year-old girl died of drowning while her 12-year-old cousin survived the accident while swimming at Beach 22, Barangay Balogo, Pasacao, Camarines Sur, at about 4 p.m., Monday,

Police identified the victim as Honey Grace Cabangon, 17, student, who did not reach the Bicol Medical Center (BMC) alive.

Cabangon’s cousin identified as Danica Atacador, 12, also a student, who almost drowned, survived the incident.

Police said the cousins, both residents of Barangay Bonifacio, San Fernando, Camarines Sur, were swept by strong waves to a deep portion of the sea, about 50 meters from the seashore.

Relatives shouted for help, prompting resort caretaker Jessie Reno to come to their rescue.

The two were rushed to the BMC but Cabangon did not reach the hospital alive while Atacador recuperated. (PNA)
