CAMP GEN. SIMEON OLA, Legazpi City, Sept. 17 (PNA) – It does not pay to drive a motorcycle drunk and without a helmet.

This seems to be the message of a vehicular accident involving an employee of the local government unit of Bulan town in Sorsogon.

A police report said Job Gigantone, 48, single and a resident of Zone 2, Bulan, died on the way to the Pantaleon Memorial Hospital after his motorcycle hit an electric post at the side of the road in Sitio Pawa, Barangay Lajong, Bulan, Sorsogon, at about 2:00 a.m., Monday.

The report said Gigantone, who was driving drunk and without helmet, was not able to control his motorcycle which hit an electric post of the Sorsogon Electric Cooperative.

The motorcycle and Gigantone landed on the ricefield at the road side.

The report added that the victim was on his way home after a drinking session with friends.

Police and land transportation authorities have reiterated their warning to motorcycle riders to always wear helmets and avoid being drunk while driving.(PNA)
