LEGAZPI CITY, 11Sept2013 (PNA) – An 81-mm vintage bomb was found by children playing at the back of the residence of Albay Gov. Joey Salceda in Barangay Penafrancia, Daraga, Albay, here on Sunday afternoon, a report released by the police Tuesday said.
The governor was in Manila at that time.
Members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) bomb squad based at Camp Gen. Simeon Ola here immediately went to the place to ensure the safety of residents in the place.
Police said the children were playing at the back of the governor’s residence at about 5:40 p.m. when they found the bomb.
The children immediately informed their parents who then requested the Daraga police to remove the bomb to avoid any untoward incident.
The bomb is now at the custody of regional police at the camp, who said they will destroy the bomb anytime soon.
Police believe the bomb did not explode when it landed in the place during World War II. (PNA)
