MANILA, 4Sept2013 (PNA) – The Philippine Coast Guard rescued 54 passengers and eight crew members after the motor banca they were riding experienced engine trouble at the waters of Barangay San Miguel, Monreal, Masbate on Tuesday.
Reports from the PCG headquarters in Manila said the engine of motor banca Sikaran-3 went dead on water while navigating Aroroy Port in Masbate from Pilar, Sorsogon at around 7 a.m.
A certain Charlie Lawson reported the incident to Coast Guard Sub Station Aroroy via cell phone. Immediately, the personnel of CGSS Aroroy Deployable Response Group, in coordination with motor banca Edcel Ann 4, conducted search and rescue operations for the said distressed motor banca and towed it en route to Aroroy Port, Masbate at around 1:25 p.m. of the same day with all passengers and crews safe.(PNA)
