SORSOGON CITY, 1Sept2013 (BicolToday.com) – True that blood is thicker than water, with his hectic senate schedule Senator Chiz Escudero was  here yesterday to solicit votes for his councilor cousin Dennis Escudero of Casiguran town who is aspiring for the top position of Philippine Councilors League, Sorsogon Chapter.

If elected the senators cousin will sit as ex-officio member of the Sanggunian Panlalawigan and the third blood related Escudero in the provincial board.

The local PCL chapter composed of 154 members from 14 towns and one city for a long time is in disarray due to lack of leadership and transparency. As before, events hosted by PCL local chapter were not spared of controversies as what happened during the Kasanggayahan Festival 2012.

Senator Chiz said that his cousin secured his permission to run as councilor’s league president and promised to introduced changes and reforms. Calling the shots for the Escudero’s political clan, the senator tasked the ninety eight councilors in attendance for their support and votes. Asked if he believes that his cousin has the numbers to win, he quipped “ I don’t believe in numbers for the votes are yet to be counted”, adding, the election is on September 4.

Some of the councilors in attendance revealed to BicolToday.com that the senator will foot the registration fee of each allied councilor, the cheapest expense is around seven thousand pesos per registrant (P7,000.00), this can go up depending on the formula of the other contender.

It was further revealed that during the meeting with the senators mother, Congresswoman Evelina Escudero the amount of ten thousand pesos (P10,000.00) is alleged to be the price tag to secure the votes for Councilor Escudero.

One of the councilors present said, that 7,000,00 pesos is too small compared to the prestige to Escudero’s clan when the senators cousin is elected as PCL president. [BicolToday.com]

  1. Ti-baad parte ini kan inaapod na “Pork Chop a la Villa Escudero.” Pls read my Facebook posting: “Ababadaw, sa karao-karao sagkud sa tuya-tuya naaaram san gabos an agrangay kan publico.” (Holy Mackerel, the grievances of the public are made known to all by the people’s jokes and satire.) I was informed that in Sorsogon under the former bishop, people said that “there was Pork Varela.” Now, people are saying there are other kinds of pork dishes in Sorsogon. There is the “Lutong Macao Pork Adobo” at the provincial capitol. There is also the “Pork Chop a la Villa Escudero.” In Bulan, there is the “Pork Adobo a la Gringo.” And in Gubat, there is the “Palm Sunday Pork BBQ.” At first I could not understand what it was until I realized that in Spanish & in the Sorsoganon dialect, “Palm Sunday” is called “Domingo de Ramos.” Very witty & funny itong mga Kahimanwa (provincemates) niato talaga. 🙂
