MANILA,23 Aug2013 (PNA) – The National Bureau of Investigation is considering to place businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles in the Red Notice List of the International Criminal Police Organization.
This was confirmed by Justice Secretary Leila M. De Lima on Thursday in the face of the intensified nationwide manhunt operations by authorities on Napoles who was ordered arrested by the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 150 for the case of serious illegal detention.
Napoles is the alleged “brains” behind the P10-billion pork barrel fund and the P900-million Malampaya fund scams.
De Lima said once an accused is placed in the red notice list, the 190 member-countries of the Interpol will be advised that Napoles is being hunted in the Philippines.
Nevertheless, De Lima expressed the belief that there are still no indications that Napoles has left the country.
De Lima said the wanted businesswoman will have difficulty in leaving the country as the Department of Foreign Affairs has already cancelled her passport. (PNA)
