MANILA, Aug. 22 (PNA) — In its latest update, the Philippine Navy (PN) announced that the death toll for the sinking of the M/V St. Thomas Aquinas I, which sank after colliding with the M/V Sulpicio Express 7, has now climbed to 75 after technical divers recovered a headless body with no lower extremities around 1:13 p.m. Thursday.
Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Fabic, Navy spokesperson, said that the recovery of the body brings the number of cadavers retrieved this day to four, raising the number of dead to 75 as of 2:30 p.m.
He added this now brings down the number of missing persons to 45 while the number of those rescued at 750. (PNA)
