MANILA, 21Aug2013 (PNA) – Despite exiting from the country, tropical storm Maring will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon that will bring rains over Luzon, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.
PAGASA said Maring has accelerated further and is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
As of 10:00 a.m. Maring was at 500 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (25.4°N, 124.0°E) packed with maximum winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of 135 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 20 kph
PAGASA said that Maring will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon that will bring moderate to heavy rain showers and thunderstorms over Luzon particularly over the western section.
The estimated rainfall amount is from 10 – 40 mm per hour (heavy – torrential) within the 500 km diameter of the Maring.
The weather agency also advised the fishermen specially those using small seacraft not to venture out over the seaboards of Luzon due to the possible big waves generated by the enhanced southwest monsoon. (PNA)
