MANILA, 17Aug2013 (PNA) – More than 200 passengers of budget carrier Zest Airways have been stranded anew at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 4 on Saturday since most of them were not yet aware that the airline has been indefinitely grounded by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Friday afternoon.
Cpl. Orlando Hamtig, Airport Police Department shift-in-charge, said the passengers eagerly queued outside Terminal 4, hoping that they can get to their respective destinations not knowing that Zest Air’s operations were suspended due to a number of air safety violations.
As of 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Hamtig said stranded passengers were hauled off by Zest Air staff either to Resorts World or NAIA Terminal 2 where they were rebooked to other available domestic flights.
The CAAP on Friday afternoon issued an order stopping Zest Air’s operations until such time the airline conforms with aviation safety standards.
More than 500 passengers were also stranded Friday night after CAAP issued the suspension order on Zest Air. (PNA)
