SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga, 13Aug2013 (PNA) – The town of Masinloc in Zambales on Tuesday was placed under a state of calamity after it was badly hit by typhoon Labuyo.
Masinloc Mayor Desiree Edora made the declaration as almost the entire town is submerged under water that destroyed roads and bridges and displaced thousands of residents.
In a report reaching the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) here,seven barangays in Masinloc town were inundated with two to five feet of floods Monday afternoon. These are North Poblacion, South Poblacion, Inhobol, Sto. Rosario, Tapuac, Sta. Rita, and Collat.
RDRRMC report also showed that some 4,200 families or 25,229 individuals were displaced and now in evacuation centers in the said town.
A portion of national highway in Palauig town also eroded, resulting to only one lane passable. (PNA)
