SORSOGON CITY, 13Aug2013 (BicolToday.com) – The principles of good governance applied by the administration of Governor Raul Lee of Sorsogon Province earned them the seal of good housekeeping which the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced in its letter to the governor signed by Secretary Mar Roxas.
The conferment of the award to Sorsogon Province made it as a priority LGU’s to receive Special Local Road Fund (SLRF). The fund of 4.8 million pesos can be use for road upgrading, improved drainage systems and better traffic management. The allocation was approved by the Road Board which according to its manual the amount should be programmed for eligible work categories covering preventive maintenance or rehabilitation and improvement along provincial and city roads.
Upon receiving the news, Governor Lee lauded provincial government employees whose public service to its clients has improved. The public perception of the services at the province is now appreciated by the transacting public and whatever criticism that my administration received the past months is drained by the conferring of the good housekeeping seal.
I have instructed provincial administrator Robert Rodrigueza to submit an inventory of provincial roads particularly those leading to tourism sites, agricultural production areas and those covered under the regulations of the road board so upon receipt of the fund notice, we can go forward without delay the utilization of the fund, said the governor.
When contacted, administrator Rodrigueza said that he ordered the preparation of the inventory and with the information he instructed the provincial engineers office and the governors action center to prepare annual work program and individual program of works for submission to DILG compliant with the Special Local Road Fund guidelines. We must take advantage of this fund according to its mandated rules, Rodrigueza implied. [BicolToday.com]
