20 fishermen in Bicol region missing, 90 passengers still stranded due to typhoon ‘Labuyo’


MANILA, 13Aug2013 (PNA) – Search and rescue operations are still continuing for the missing 20 fishermen in the Bicol region.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) public affairs office said Tuesday that as of 2 pm Monday (Aug. 12), their field offices reported that six fishermen from Catanduanes and 14 from Camarines Norte are reported as missing by their relatives after they failed to return home from a fishing activity.

Meanwhile, the PCG said that 90 passengers from the areas affected by typhoon “Labuyo” are still stranded in ports as of 4 am Tuesday (Aug. 13), including 20 from the Western Visayas region, 35 from the Bicol region, and another 35 from Northeastern Luzon.

The PCG said the number of stranded passengers reached 1,158 as of 10 pm Monday.(PNA)
