SORSOGON CITY, 22July 2103 ( With two hundred forty five (245) votes Congressman Feliciano Belmonte of Quezon City retained the house speakership before noon today with less fanfare.

This was revealed through text message by the representation from Sorsogon of COOP NATCCO Anthony Bravo who cast his vote in favor of Belmonte. Clarifying his vote, Bravo said that Belmonte is the right person who can unify the house members and have proven his mettle in pushing critical legislative measures. He cited the impeachment of Ombudsman Merceditas Gutrierez and Chief Justice Renato Corona during the fifteenth congress.

The nearest contender Ronaldo Zamora of San Juan secured eighteen (18) votes while Martin Romualdez of Leyte got sixteen (16) votes. As a rule, Zamora having garnered the second highest number of votes will become the minority floor leader and Romualdez as the assistant minority floor leader.

Representative Bravo vote in the plenary of the sixteenth congress is his first officially recorded vote in the journal of congress as partylist representative of COOP NATCCO.
