SORSOGON CITY, 01July2013 ( – Committed to serve the interest of its consumers, the Sorsogon City Water District (SCWD) started working on the inter-connectivity of its pipelines, together with its bulk water supplier Abejo Waters of Cebu City, to complete the lines in Barangay Piot West District of this City using 6-inch PVC pipes, before the hydro testing of the lines.

In their media release, the water utility informed the public concessionaires that they will immediately start the excavation works near their pumping station in Barangay Pangpang, which will be interconnected with the existing lines at the junction of the barangay accessing the diversion road. An 8-inch pipe will be used for the project.

By phasing the excavation, the next area is Barangay Guinlajon which will complete the water lines and interconnection before the construction of a water treatment facility in the village.

The water treatment facility is part of the contracted agreement entered into, by SCWD and Abejo Waters under a private-public partnership program.

Primarily aimed to boost the existing water supply of the outlaying barangays in the western part of the city, the utility firm has tapped the technical know-how of Abejo Waters to use as an alternate source the water seepage of Cawayan River.

They foresee at least fifty liters (50) per second of the water seepage when the water treatment facility is operational in the river that will supply new concessionaires in the city’s western part servicing seven (7) barangays. []
