SORSOGON CITY, 21June2013 (BicolToday.com) – Civic-spirited citizens here strongly urged newly-elected Mayor Sally Lee to place as top priority concern the removal of commercial buildings at the back of Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral for alleged violation of Zoning and Building-standard laws, and desecration of the place of religious worship.

Bobby M. Reyes and his friends have sent an open letter to the city mayor and the city council to place on priority agenda the removal of the commercial establishments at the setback of the church, a move they have been waging since 1995.

“Not only there are moral and religious reasons for the construction of the commercial buildings, but there are clear violations of the then-municipal and present Zoning and Building-standard laws,” said Reyes in the open letter.

Reyes and his friends are expecting the new city administration for prompt response in the removal of the illegal and cultural eyesores located right at the very center of downtown Sorsogon City.[BicolToday.com]

Di ba “feast day” nina San Pedro sagkud San Pablo an tiempo kan bagyo? Mayad kun an Cathedral sagkud an Bishop’s Palace lang an maaafectohan. Pati gabos na Sorsoganon (maski baku sinda Catolico) mapeperwisyo.

  3. An issue dito ay PERA.

  5. That has been a very big problem ever since. Most of the parishioners were against these ‘eyesores’ of our cathedral BUT THE SAD THING AND TRUTH IS THOSE PRIESTS AND PARISH PRIESTS WHO WERE ASSIGNED AT THE CATHEDRAL BEFORE, ESPECIALLY THe BISHOP ARTURO BASTES WERE THE VERY PEOPLE WHO ALLOWED TO HAVE THOSE ESTABLISHMENTS CONSTRUCTED, PLUS THE OTHER ESTABLISHMENTS THAT WILL RISE WITHIN THE CATHEDRAL COMPOUND!! WE DONT REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT KIND OF RELIGIOUS LEADERS WE HAVE NOW IN OUR DIOCESE! HOPEFULLY, OUR NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS WILL PRIORITIZE THIS LONG TIME PROBLEM..

  6. WITH A CAUSE!

Hahaha. Kinabahan ka siguro, ha? Man, keep up the good leadership your showing us! Mabuhay ka Bobby!

  7. Thank goodness. Tia Sally, tama iyan na gigibuhon mo. I just can’t understand how a beautiful landmark in Sorsogon be disrespected this way. About time. Now I feel proud to be your pamangkin. 😀
