SORSOGON CITY, 21June2013 (BicolToday.com) – Civic-spirited citizens here strongly urged newly-elected Mayor Sally Lee to place as top priority concern the removal of commercial buildings at the back of Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral for alleged violation of Zoning and Building-standard laws, and desecration of the place of religious worship.
Bobby M. Reyes and his friends have sent an open letter to the city mayor and the city council to place on priority agenda the removal of the commercial establishments at the setback of the church, a move they have been waging since 1995.
“Not only there are moral and religious reasons for the construction of the commercial buildings, but there are clear violations of the then-municipal and present Zoning and Building-standard laws,” said Reyes in the open letter.
Reyes and his friends are expecting the new city administration for prompt response in the removal of the illegal and cultural eyesores located right at the very center of downtown Sorsogon City.[BicolToday.com]
