SORSOGON CITY, 5June2013 (BicolToday.com) – Though Sorsogon has only two political districts, but the party-list rules gives it three more seats in the lower house when it opened its 16th Congress.
The First Congressional District will have Representative Evelina Escudero, the Second Congressional District re-elected Representative Deogracias ‘Ding’ Ramos and the additional three seats are from COOP-NATCCO, AGRI-AGRA and ANAKPAWIS partylists, whose nominees are from here.
Proclaimed by COMELEC bagging two-seats is COOP-NATCCO, its second nominee Dr. Anthony M. Bravo, a former college instructor at the Sorsogon State College and a true advocate of cooperatives in the countryside is a resident of Barangay Buhatan, East District of this city.
Delphine Gan Lee is a long time resident of Barangay Polvorista here, she is the first nominee of AGRI AGRA.
The least known is Fernando ‘Ka Pando’ Hicap, for a long time championing the fisherfolks, is the nominee of Anakpawis. The three are now partylist representatives, as proclaimed by the COMELEC.
COOP-NATCCO Partylist Representative Dr. Anthony Bravo said that he is looking forward to meet his counterparts and would push for a common legislative agenda to help push the productivity of Sorsogon as a province.
“I will tie-up with the district representatives to program priority funding to lessen poverty incidence in the province and duplicate existing model programs in other locality. This will be guided by indexes from the national anti-poverty commission,” he said in a statement by e-mail.
“I will be coordinating with the provincial development council and whenever feasible my presence in the countryside will give me a clearer picture how COOP NATCCO extends assistance to our beneficiaries, it includes non-cooperative members,” he said in the statement.
“An audience to our public officials not only to express my thanks for their support but to manifest my intention and of COOP NATCCO that we are ready to be co-partnering in their developmental goals as necessary,” he added. [BicolToday.com]
