SORSOGON CITY (BicolToday.com/21May2013) – Public education could not be worst if all stake holders raise their bar of commitment, they will be the big thing.
This year Brigada Eskwela is no different from last year, except perhaps that as early as January, DepEd officials are planning new innovations to attract attention for the repair and refurbishment of public school facilities, they have seen the enormity of the problem and are pushing into stakeholders consciousness why the need to help. Having the work plan, they rolled-up their sleeves and took the challenge.
At Sorsogon East Central School started the Brigada Eskwela consciousness, a Family Fun walk was an innovation to generate resources, it will be a different approach to attract participation for the public activity, was how Dr. Ma. Teresa Dreu, the school principal said. The success is hope to steamroll active participation of the community of parents, teachers, local government officials and civic groups not only to lend a hand but extend materials resources for the repair of tables, chairs and blackboards. They hope to give a fresh look by painting and encouraging active participation. Judging with the number of parents trooping the school, the minor repairs will be done.
Their marching slogan “In Brigada Eskwela, we help invest in children’s Future . . .Today” is as apt as the need to institute repair and construction of classrooms. A sight to enjoy, a mother tagging her toddler unmindful of the uncertainty gamely scrubs the wall, the effort said Ligaya Formento, is her small way of securing a better learning environment for her niece. Such gesture can double if only public officials spend education funds for what it is intended, she added.
