TIGAON, Camarines Sur, 15-May-2013 (BicolToday.com) – Aspirant for Congress actor Aga Muhlach’s destiny hangs on the tiny village of Cabalinadan in this town as about 600 votes are still to be counted after its PCOS machine malfunctioned on Monday, election day.
Several hundreds of the actor’s supporters have flocked outside the COMELEC office which is housed in the municipal building in efforts to stay in vigil where the PCOS machine in Cabalinadan village was brought in.
Tigaon is known as the political headquarters of the Fuentebellas and the town mayor is just re-elected Mayor Arnie Fuentebella, brother of Wimpy.
The show of support by Aga’s supporters who came in from different towns was mobilized to “prevent cheating” in the canvassing of votes. Reports said that Cabalinadan precinct is the only poll place which is not yet officially canvassed.
Legal counsels of both parties had already gathered inside the COMELEC canvassing room to represent their clients.
According to political observers, the village is a known Fuentebella bailiwick, but overall town results said the actor won over his opponent by a lead of only 500 votes. The votes that had tossed up Wimpy came from nearby Sangay town whose mayor is Evelyn Fuentebella, mother of Wimpy.
Muhlach’s tough opponent Wimpy Fuentebella has a 70 votes- lead over the actor as of Wednesday morning, May 15, in this hotly contested, emotionally-charged electoral exercise.
Yesterday morning on Tuesday, Muhlach has a 3,000- lead over Wimpy Fuentebella, with several precincts still remaining unreported, but as of last night, reports said Fuentebella had climbed up overtaking Muhlach by 70 votes.
Last Monday, partial district reports said that Muhlach had 50,000+ votes, while Fuentebella had 47,000+ votes. [BicolToday.com]
