LEGAZPI, 9-May-2013 (PNA) – Four provinces in Bicol suffered power outage on Wednesday due to the unplanned closure of five power plants supplying electricity to the Luzon grid.
The provinces of Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Sorsogon have been without power since 2:00 p.m. and there is no news of power restoration as of this posting.
Blackout was not confined in Bicol as NGCP advised that power outage was Luzon-wide and caused by generation deficiency.
A total of 3,700 MW is currently offline. As of press time, NGCP has no information on the time of restoration of the power plants.
NGCP said it’s transmission lines are secured and fully functional. It will dispatch available capacities once the power plants are restored and online.(PNA)
