SORSOGON CITY(BicolToday.com/21March2013)- The friendship of Senator Edgardo Angara and Sorsogon governor Raul Lee resulted in a public endorsement of the latter for Representative Juan Edgardo ‘Sonny’ Angara’s bid for a senate seat when the Aurora province congressman was here three days ago to pat bat local political leaders in the presence of Sorsogon media.
The younger Angara’s low key demeanor inspite of his father political stature in national politics is equitable to the statesman image of the older Angara makes this TOYM 2010 awardee a possible class act if elected this 16th Congress.
First elected in the 13th Congress, then 31 years old Juan Edgardo Angara focused his fund releases by allocating it for classrooms. His district received more than 100 classrooms, he duplicated his effort in giving attention to health care, funding 12 government hospitals for the medical needs and preventive care to his constituents. Topping his legislative work the congressman provided scholarship to deserving students in different state colleges and universities.
When Governor Raul Lee introduced Sonny Angara, he started by saying, his father belongs here in Sorsogon, we have the same party, the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino, he may not be my partymate today, but I cannot forsake him. Saying “ why should we go for other senatoriables who would not help Sorsogon”, we go to those who have links with Sorsogon, Congressman Angara is one of them. Adding that he will always help Sorsogon, and I am endorsing his candidacy here in our province”.
As an assurance Lee said that Angara’s name will be carried in his party ballots.
From women’s rights to economic and fiscal reforms, consumers welfare, good governance and civil service reforms environmental protection, tourism, health and education were his congressional bills and many became laws of national significance. [BicolToday.com]
