SORSOGON CITY ( – Not sitting idle with its social responsibility, Sorsogon City Water District corporate planners embarked on a new idea how to care the environment by launching 3R program geared to give back to mother nature the things that it shared to us, water from its bosoms.

The utility mandated to provide adequate supply of safe drinking water in its service area tasked itself to protect the environment by donating water jugs to selected public elementary schools in the city, those that we can’t service at the moment, was how they selected recipients of water jugs.

The donations is seen to help grade schoolers lessen susceptibility to water borne bacterial infections because of unsanitary water sources near the school. Teachers, school health nurses are trained how to properly treat water sources to free it from contaminants that maybe sources of absenteeism of pupils in rural areas.

SCWD engineers were on hand when the water jug were distributed Tublijon Elementary School, an uphill site in Barangay Rizal, the elementary schools of Buenavista, Peñafrancia, Pamurayan and Bitan-o were also provided.

The 3R program sees that reusing and recycling reduces unnecessary waste that harms the environment whatever spills we make adds to environmental pollutants. []
