LEGAZPI CITY (19-Feb-2013/PNA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Bicol on Tuesday announced that, in cooperation with the provincial government of Sorsogon, registration of applicants for the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) or the summer job program for 2013 on the province had already opened.
“Actually almost all the municipalities that have SPES pledges are starting to accept applicants. It so happens that Sorsogon started full blast registration ahead of the other Bicol provinces,” DOLE Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra said.
Requirements for the SPES program are the following: applicants must be high school graduate, aged 25 years old and below, currently enrolled this school year, has not availed of any scholarship grant from other institutions and with not more than P36,000 annual family income.
“There are no other requirements needed for SPES, and it is true not just regionwide but nationwide. If there are persons asking for other malicious requirements, please tell us (DOLE),” Lacambra said.
With the opening of the SPES Program, he cautioned applicants from dealing with fixers and the modus operandi of some individuals posting as DOLE or Public Employment Service Office employees of local government units asking for cash in lieu of a a promise of sure SPES slot. (PNA)
